Comedian Chris Tucker is launching his first major tour in more than a decade.
Concert promoters Live Nation announced a 30-city Tucker comedy tour on Tuesday. The "Legend Tour" shows will kick off Sept. 8 in North Charleston, South Carolina, and will visit other cities such as Phoenix, Los Angeles, Cincinnati, Houston and Detroit.
Fans can get early access to tickets with an artist presale beginning on Thursday. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday at 10 a.m. local time. To purchase tickets or for more information, go to Ticketmaster.com.
Tucker, who got his start in the early ‘90s as a stand-up comedian, before moving onto films, is best known for his role in “Friday” and the “Rush Hour” action-comedy film franchise. He recently starred in “Air” alongside Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Viola Davis.
In a statement announcing his tour, Tucker noted that he began his "career doing stand-up in comedy clubs and it's stand-up comedy that prepared me for all of my movie roles."
"I'm looking forward to getting back to my roots," Tucker added. "I love performing live. There's nothing like the energy of a live crowd and making people laugh. I'm excited to be back out on tour."
